Mitiq is a Python toolkit designed for implementing error mitigation techniques on quantum computers. Current quantum hardware is affected by noise from environmental interactions, imperfect operations, and measurement errors. Error mitigation addresses these issues at the software level by compiling quantum programs in ways that reduce these effects. Mitiq provides a collection of established error mitigation techniques, including Zero-Noise Extrapolation (ZNE), Probabilistic Error Cancellation (PEC), Clifford Data Regression (CDR), Digital Dynamical Decoupling, and Readout-Error Mitigation. It also includes techniques like Quantum Subspace Expansion and others under development. Mitiq is designed to be frontend-agnostic, supporting popular frameworks like Cirq, Qiskit, Qibo, and others, and can be used with any backend compatible with these frontends. The library includes tools like a calibration module to help users select the best techniques and parameters for their specific hardware. By applying these techniques, users can obtain more accurate results from noisy quantum computations.
